Temptations Tanning

Previous problems with fake tan?

You don't have to have patchy skin like this giraffe.

You could be flawless and bronzed like this girl.

Okay so you haven't got the best track record with fake tan. In fact your fake tan history is a complete disaster and you can never ever ever use the stuff ever again. If this sounds like you then you've reached the right page. If you've had a bad experience with fake tan it doesn't mean that:

  • Fake tan doesn't like you
  • Your skin can't take fake tan
  • You constantly look like a cast member of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory

It just means that there is something that you didn't do that needed to be done during the fake tanning process. Don't worry, all of this is fine and if it was your first attempt at tanning and you only went a little patchy some might consider it a good going. There are some shocking cases of fake tan modelled by z-list celebs and big brother contestants, even the a-listers get it wrong sometimes so don't let this stop you from trying to achieve a golden glow, especially if your pale skin is getting you down, as it does with many of you.

There are a few steps that you need to take to achieve complete tanning success, these are:

  • Exfoliate ----- Around 24 hours before you want to tan, completely exfoliate your entire body from head to toe using a nice gentle scrub. This will reveal soft new skin, the perfect base for tanning.
  • Remove hair ----- Again, around 24 hours before tanning remove any unwanted hair from the legs, bikini line, underarms, face and arms. This applies to waxing, epilating and shaving. The 24 hour gap gives the pores enough time to close.
  • Moisturise ----- Apply a thorough amount of moisturiser all over the body to give it a soft base ready to tan, instant tan moisturuiser can be applied with the tan. Take extra care with the knees and elbows.

This preparation should give you a soft even base to take the fake tan. If the three above steps are done properly you should have no problem with streaks, patches or dry and flaky orange areas. If your are reading this and you already have somewhat patchy skin and a collection of tan on the knees and elbows try not to panic. Get in the bath or shower with a good exfoliating body scrub and a loofer and get rid of the tan, then start again tomorrow.
